So, how many times does that mean they need to go out and relieve themselves? Dogs need to urinate between 3-5 times a day. In that respect, they are a lot like humans. Dogs need to go to the bathroom after meals and a couple of times in between, just like we do. That applies even if you are on a road trip. Think about how you feel when you have to go to the bathroom but you are trying to wait to get to the next exit.
